Prediabetes and Metabolic Syndrome
Prediabetes is a condition where blood sugar levels are higher than normal and, if left untreated, can result in type 2 diabetes (T2D). Prediabetes is defined by the presence of impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and/or impaired glucose tolerance (IGT), two conditions where the blood sugar levels have not yet reached the treshold for T2D's onset. In the United States 86 million people (approximately 37% of the US population) have prediabetes which may evolve into T2D during their lifetimes if left untreated. Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is also considered a prediabetes equivalent.
Defined by a series of conditions which include increased blood pressure, high blood sugar, high body fat and irregular cholesterol and triglyceride levels, MetS is closely linked to heart disease, stroke and diabetes. Often a new routine (such as diet and exercise) is needed to combat these conditions. Now PreDia® is there to help and support your new lifestyle.*
Glucose Tolerance & Insulin Function
PreDia® works by controlling glycemia either by delaying or reverting the onset of impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) which are tipically associated with the prediabetic condition. PreDia's main function revolves around Abscisic acid (ABA) contained in its Grape Seed extract ingredient. Our unique and patent pending dosage of ABA significantly reduces fasting glycemia and glycated hemoglobin and also the glycemic profile after a meal. PreDia® exerts its action on glycemic control not by increasing but by reducing insulin secretion required to lower glycemia after carbohydrates intake. Studies have shown that the dose of ABA contained in PreDia® can replace the insulin action by stimulating, in an insulin-independent manner, the skeletal muscle glucose uptake. The capability of saving insulin secretion to control glycemia represents the most important way action of PreDia®.*
Weight Balance & Cardiovascular Protection
Impaired fasting glucose (IFG) and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) represent the transitional state of abnormal glucose regulation that occur between normal glucose levels and T2D. These two conditions are strictly related to an unregulated diet – rich in carbohydrates and fats intake – and unhealthy lifestyles. This leads to progressive insulin resistance due to the higher amounts of insulin needed to normalize glycemia. PreDia® helps to normalize glycemia after carbohydrates intake by promoting the skeletal muscle glucose uptake and, at the same time, reduces insulin secretion. And this is a great advantage. Indeed, the need for a higher and prolonged release of insulin stars a "vicious circle" responsible for progressive insulin resistance leading to an increase in body weight and lipids (cholesterol and triglycerides) in the bloodstream thus raising the onset of cardiovascular risk. Therefore, PreDia®'s insulin management (i.e the reduction in its secretion) and its ability to normalize blood glucose by promoting skeletal muscle glucose uptake is very important not only in helping to manage and reduce weight gain (especially in the waist) and body mass index, but also in lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels thus reducing the cardiovascular risk. PreDia® allows a normal absorption of carbohydrates by promoting their use for energy purposes without increasing insulin secretion.*
How PreDia® Is Different
What makes PreDia® unique is not a decrease of the body's absorption of carbohydrates or a higher stimulation of insulin release to normalize glycemia – as in the case of many other blood glucose control natural products (for example, those containing Gymnema sylvestre, White mulberry, Banaba, etc.). What makes PreDia® different is its unique and delicate balance of Abscisic acid (ABA) in its Grape Seed extract. ABA is a molecule present in vegetables, having (at the optimal dose) the scientifically proven capability, by reducing insulin secretion, to counteract the onset of insulin resistance which is the common link for the development of both prediabetes and metabolic syndrome. Althought fresh fruits and vegetables naturally contain ABA, the intake of the molecule they provide with the diet is not sufficient to reach the positive effects on glucose metabolism that ABA can exert at the optimal dose obtainable with PreDia®. That is why with PreDia®'s patent pending ABA dosage, combined with both chromium and magnesium, improves the typical markers associated with prediabetes and metabolic syndrome when is combined with an healthy lifestyle.*
Powered By Science, Proven By Studies
Thanks to the patent pending ABA content in its composition, PreDia can reduce the glycemic profile after a meal and can provide optimal management of the glucose and liped metabolism during a daily administration. Additional studies confirm the efficacy of ABA in the glycemic and lipidemic control. The daily intake of one tablet ensures the typical markers associated to prediabetes and metabolic syndrome is reduced.
Recently, a three-month open clinical study was performed with PreDia®. The outcomes of the study were that participants experienced lower Fasting glycemia, HbA1c, Total cholesterol levels, HDL levels, and Body weight & waist circumference.
Summary of the main results obtained in the three-months clinical study with PreDia®
PreDia lowers glycemia during a standard breakfast in healthy human subjects
After overnight fasting, participants consumed a standard breakfast (i.e. with defined carbohydrates content approx. 1 g/Kg BW) with PreDia and without, taken 20 min before breakfast. The two experiments were performed one week apart.
- Glycemia refers to the concentration of glucose in the blood
